The Prestwich memorial blessing
On the 23rd April, The Prestwich memorial building was blessed by various ministers/ priests from various religions. The bones of the slaves were exhumed and moved into the building after the blessing.
The Spier poetry exchange was held in Feb this year, it was a formal collaboration between the Africa centre and the Winternachten international literature festival in Hague.

In May 2006 an international woman's conference was held in parliament in Cape town. Speakers throughout africa attended to discuss "woman and the economic recovery of africa." the conference was attended by woman from various countries including South Africas first lady Mrs Zanele Mbeki.
